Manifest
My name is Pina_
I'm from São Paulo, born in 1905 and in these almost 120 years I've seen everything. But far from this talk of nostalgia, I'm a museum and I'm well aware.
In my corridors, there is space for everyone from inside and outside Brazil. That's because I come from a long journey. In the beginning, my original collection had 26 works and today there are more than 11 thousand pieces. I grew up and appeared, I have a beautiful collection of Brazilian art and, I dare say, that I was the first Brazilian institution on a global scale, I have hosted several exhibitions by international artists.
My schedule is diverse, so big that I need two buildings to cover it: Pina Luz and Pina Estação, with the third on the way. The first has one of the main conservation and restoration laboratories in the country. The second is the one that hosts the temporary exhibitions, in addition to the Documentation and Memory Center (Cedoc), the Walter Wey Library and the São Paulo Resistance Memorial.
I am the reflection of the transformations that art represents. I am the stage for great stories, baggage, resistance, reflection, strength, acceptance, inclusion and representation.
Art is life!
